A little
coast time.
Happy birthday, Justin!
Chowder, sea lions, rolling fog, and sunsets on the Oregon coast. Here are a few pictures and memories from our time there.

A birthday at the coast.

I surprised my husband, Justin Jones, with a camping trip at the coast for his birthday. We were there October 1 through 5, 2026. Lincoln City is one of our favorite cities, so it was a wonderful place to celebrate!
We stayed at Devil's Lake Campground, tucked between the north and south ends of Lincoln City. What a beautiful, well-maintained campground. If I can get reservations, I would love to come back in the summertime.
This was only our second trip this year. Life circumstances kept us from getting away as often as we usually do, but my little red truck handled beautifully and the trailer did very, very well.
A boardwalk and a little lake time.
Devil's Lake had a really cool boardwalk through the nature preserve. From our campground, we also had access to a small boat launch and dock.
A quick drive around the lake brought us to a cute little park with a sandy beach and swimming area. I think it was at the east end of the lake, but I am not sure. It looked like a fun place to come back to in the summer.
October gave us quite a show.
Even though we were there in October, the weather cooperated beautifully. We had clear blue skies and sunshine, along with banks of rolling fog that gave everything such great atmosphere.
We walked the beaches in Lincoln City, Beverly Beach, and a few others whose names I cannot remember. Lots of walks, beautiful sunsets, and a few kites flying. I took plenty of pictures, of course!

Chowder was on the list. Of course.
We had to grab a bowl of chowder at Mo's. That is a prerequisite for these trips! Our favorite chowder, as always, was at the Sea Hag in Depoe Bay. It was the best tasting chowder of the trip.
Zeller's was on our list too. We have gone there for anniversaries, and we seem to make a stop on most of our coastal trips.
We also enjoyed cooking breakfasts and dinners in the trailer, camp style, and loving it. There was one thing missing, though: my dear Coco. We missed her.
A little browsing. A lot to enjoy.
Within walking distance of our campground, we visited the Artists' Studio Association and the co-op gallery. Beautiful, incredible artwork! I was so impressed to find it in a small coastal town.
Kudos to the curator. The artwork was arranged in a coordinating way that flowed wonderfully. We got to meet one of the artists working at the desk, who told us the gallery had just been reset. The opening was going to be that following Saturday, so we basically got a sneak peek!
We did plenty of shopping in the little galleries and kitschy stores, too. Being there in the off-season gave us a chance to chat with the proprietors and meet some interesting people.
One woman was an interior architect and also had experience in the mental health industry. What a combination! She gave us some ideas for future trips in Eastern Oregon. Joseph was one of the places she mentioned, and it sounds very promising.
We also stopped at Lincoln City Cultural Center, where we found that wonderful orange octopus sculpture. Quite a photo opportunity!
Watching the glassblowers.
We also visited Lincoln City Glass Center in the Historic Taft District. Watching the live glassblowing was really awesome to see!

Newport was one of the places we wanted to visit, and of course we had to see the sea lions. They were as active as ever and as loud as ever!
We enjoyed watching them while we sipped tea and coffee at the little restaurant overlooking the dock they share. Quite a view with our drinks.
Tea, snacks, and a warm flame.

Back at camp, we enjoyed our gas fire ring. No wood chopping and no smoke needed. We did not roast marshmallows this time, just enjoyed our tea, snacks, and the warmth of the flame.
We returned home feeling rejuvenated and blessed, with lots of great memories to hold on to until the next trip.
